Let's cover the basics!

Prior to Valentine's Day, I was asked to give some lovely ladies (looking to take their makeup game to the next level) a little crash course. I picked some staples out of my kit and figured I'd share a few of the tips & product recs I gave them with my blog readers.

- It's all about skin prep! If you know me, you may have already noticed that I love micellar water. It gently cleanses skin prior to makeup application (without drying it out). I also like to use it to remove any existing makeup from the face.

- Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. One of the most important steps in achieving a healthy looking glow is applying the right moisturizer. I love Embryollisse Lait Creme because it works well on a variety of skin types & absorbs quickly. You can also use Evian spray or rose water to hydrate the skin prior to makeup application, especially if you're a girl on the go.

- A cream blush/highlight can help enhance your glow. I showed my ladies some options from MAC, NARS & Chicago's Tiffani Kim Institute.

*MAC cream color base in Pearl
*Nars Illuminator in Orgasm
*Tiffani Kim cream blush in Love

- Prep your pout! To ensure smooth application of lipliner, lipstick & gloss, make sure your lips are exfoliated and well moisturized. I showed my ladies some options from Aquaphor & Kiehl's.

*Aquaphor Lip Repair balm
* Kiehl's Lip Balm #1

& those are the basics! For any additional inquiries or to request a special session with me, don't hesitate to contact me via my blog, email or even my FB page! You'll find all my links in the sidebar to the right. :)

I figured this was the perfect day to share some of my favorite snaps from a photoshoot I worked on. It features model Irene Babych and was shot by Krzysztof Babiracki in Chicago. Makeup by me. The rest of these amazing photos will be on my website so stay tuned for a link!

Fail...OTD :D

Woah 2 updates in 2 days??...New record! I did a sultry burgundy smokey eye earlier but had a hard time photographing it because it was so gloomy out! I still loved the look so I wanted to share. I used a combination of shadows from my Morphe 35W palette (no surprise there) and my Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette (for the burgundy) to create the look. I focused the burgundy on my lid and blended pale browns, greys and even black to deepen the crease and outer v.

I also added a bit of bright red blush in the center of the lid, just to make the burgundy pop a bit more (which the photos don't show as much as I'd have liked *sob*).

I finished it all off with some nude lips and my usual face routine. I will definitely be experimenting with some different lighting techniques to ensure that my photo quality is as good as it can be and the colors are more true to life. Stay tuned! In the meantime, here's today's mug.

 Happy Monday, beauties! xo

Going Green

I haven't been posting many MOTDs or shots of my work here much, so I wanted to change it up! I'm currently in the process of working on my website (which is taking a bit longer than anticipated) but I definitel want to keep my blog current with things I'm working on so stay tuned.

This look was inspired by a Lyne Desnoyers (for Giulietta NY SS16) makeup that I saw on MAC's IG page. There are shots of the original look and, of course, my little take. The other reason I love this look is that I was crazy for green shadow in high school (my go-to was Milani's Limbo Lime)  so I suppose there's a bit of nostalgia associated with it! ;)
